The Best Films Of 2017 Part Two

500 Days Of Film Reviews The Top 10 Films Of 2017... So Far

Lists are funny things... no matter how hard you try, they never truly satisfy. Here I am, compiling my top ten favourite films of 2017 (so far) and I can't help but feel distracted by an insistent nagging sensation.

You see, deep down I know that I haven't watched all of the films that I wanted to see - films such as Raw and The Handmaiden. Also, I keep wanting to change the order of my list (which follows on from this post about my favourite films of 2017 from 20-11).

However, I am going to push on regardless. So, here are my top ten films of the year so far. As before, I have limited myself to those films released in the UK in 2017 between the months of January-June.

10. Baby Driver

9. Denial

8. Okja

7. La La Land

6. Personal Shopper

5. Logan

4. Manchester By The Sea

3. Get Out

2. My Life As A Cougette

1. Moonlight

Over To You...

A look at these ten movies (alongside the ten from my previous list) and, despite the gaps in my viewing, I can't help but feel excited for the future of film. What do you think of this list? What films would you add?

    Hi Jane,
Some interesting films in your Top Lists of 2017. I haven't started to think about my best/favourites of the year yet. I usually wait until I have been to the London Film Festival in October before I start to compile a list. The great thing about the LFF is you get a chance to see films which don't get a UK distributor but still manage to get into my top 20!
I do keep a record of my Films of the Month and most of them will probably feature:-
    January: T2 Trainspotting
    February: Hacksaw Ridge
    March: Logan
    April: The Handmaiden
    May: Frantz
    June: Wonder Woman
    July: Dunkirk
    August (so far): Maudie
I only include films which I have seen at the cinema.

    Hi Ian,
I tend to do a mid-year and end-of-year review. However, this year I may cheat and make a list of unmissable films. I really struggle ranking movies! Love your monthly list of films. I must see Frantz soon. Also so tempted to become a BFI member and do LFF properly this year!

Oh thanks for that date Ian! I think this has to be the year when I get myself organised!
