Blue Valentine

500 Days Of Film Reviews Romantic Drama, Blue Valentine, Starring Michelle Williams And Ryan Gosling.

Dean (Ryan Gosling) and Cindy (Michelle Williams) meet by accident. However, soon (after a gorgeous tap dancing ukulele scene) they fall deeply in love.

Flash forward, the couple are now living with their young daughter in a frustrated and unhappy marriage. What went wrong?

Is It Any Good?

Blue Valentine tells a devastating story about the beginning and the end of a passionate love. It features two truly superb central performances from Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams.

Derek Cianfrance's stunning film switches back and forth in time. The first optimistic days of Dean and Cindy's love are juxtaposed with their relationship's devastating

breakdown. As a result, Blue Valentine is an emotionally exhausting experience.

However, the film's love story and performances are so powerful that Blue Valentine remains well worth the heartbreak. Dean and Cindy will stay with you long after the film ends.

Random Observations

Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams spent months living together in order to establish their characters.
